Established in 1956, the Korea Stock Exchange-currently the Stock Market Division of KRX - has played significant roles in developing the nation's economy. The Exchange helped listed firms raise capital an offered new opportunities to investors. Since 1962, when the Securities and Exchange Act was enacted, the market infrastructure of the Exchange has greatly improved. In February 2005, the Korea Stock Exchange was merged into the consolidated exchange, the Korea Exchange(KRX)
